The video game industry is worth over 50 billion dollars. Yep you heard right, it has overtaken the movie industry. The big name game companies are now investing more than ever into their game production. That is why every single game that is now released must be extensively tested by paid game testers. They simply can’t afford to release a game that is full of bugs, or that simply downright sucks. It’s the game testers job to test the boundaries of the game from head to toe. Basically, they play the game over and over to find the glitches, bugs, errors and problems that need to be fixed before release. A Game testers test all games for release on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 (PS3), Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii & Computer. Genres include Sports Titles, RTS, FPS, MMPORGS, Action and Adventure and much more. It’s is impossible to tell what games you may test as a game tester, because most will be games that haven’t even been released to the public. So how could we be so lucky to land a game testing job? I can assure you, it isn’t just luck. Like any job you need to meet the requirements and actually go to the effort of making an application.
While I was studying computer game design at college, I heard of classmates were lucky enough to have found jobs testing yet to be released games on the campus notice board. I thought to myself, that would be a nice way to pay of some collage expenses. Unfortunately no new jobs ever came up on the campus notice board, so I went about trying to find out how I could located these game testing jobs myself and not wait for the jobs to come to me. So I googled “game testing jobs”. Up came several sites promising me that I’ll have a highly paid testing job in no time. But, as I eventually discovered, the majority of game testing guides online, are a waste of money! They simply give you a list of game production companies and leave you out to dry. They don’t tell you how to apply for these jobs nor even what a game tester has to do! After a year more of my own research, struggle and then success, I’m now what you’d call a game testing guru. I’ve taken everything that I and other leading experts know about game testing put it into what I so “creatively” called the Become A Game Tester Course: ![]()
